Today the Chief
Justice Willy Mutunga admitted 151 new advocates to the bar at an admission
ceremony held at the Supreme Court.
The picture
above is of three of the newly admitted advocates. On the
left is Maureen Mbaka Nyaundi, daughter of Albert Mbaka Nyaundi, Secretary
General of Ford People and Treasurer of PPLC. With her are Miriam Metto
(centre) and Grace Mbogo (right).
In his speech
the Chief Justice pointed out the state of insecurity in the country. He
proposed that it was time each Kenyan tried to assist instead of politicising
the grave matter. He suggested that it
was now time to try other mitigation methods to stop the grave situation of
hopelessness, insecurity and fear that is slowly eating into our fabric as a society.
Consequently he announced that the Judiciary would play its part in mediation
to remedy the situation.
