PRESSURE ON SAITOTI BROTHER TO STEP ASIDE

The National Police Service Commission member Ronald Musengi is a man under siege. Pressure is now mounting on him to step aside after his name was adversely mentioned in the controversial sale of 5,000 acres of Malili Ranch.
Musengi is a brother of former Internal Security minister the late George Saitoti. He is said to be a director of Gateways Logistics which demanded Sh105m for identifying the land.
At one time, when his arrest warrant was issued, he rushed to the court to block his arrest but High Court dismissed his application seeking to block his prosecution over involvement in the fraudulent sale of a five-acre piece of land in Malili.
He had also moved to the High Court to stop the criminal proceedings for which he and nine others are to appear before the Magistrate’s Court on  grounds that a police report had cleared him of culpability in the sale of the land.
It is not known why Musengi has been allowed to continue serving as a commissioner but sources say he enjoys links with who is who in the current system.
