ANOTHER ROUND OF MUSICAL CHAIRS AT NATION

Changes at Nation have seen Tom Mshindi moved from the commercial division to the editorial division. His final days at the commercial division had been compromised by the performance of his man Sam Mutetei at the circulation department who had brought the group into disrepute by his  management style. Mutetei’s management style was characterised by thieving, low staff and distributor morale and declining sales. Mshindi was Mutetei’s immediate supervisor.
Mshindi was seen as Mutetei’s godfather. He first fished Mutetei from NMG to the Standard Group after he had been dumped in the NCD by the then circulation general manager at NMG Maina Mugugu. Mugugu had apparently noticed Mutetei’s many shortcomings in circulation management. He then became the circulation manager at the Standard Group where Mshindi was the group CEO. Mutetei’s record at the SG was nothing to write home about according to staff there.
Mshindi was to later join the NMG as the managing director of the newspapers division. In the subsequent changes that followed his joining, an opportunity was created in the circulation department when the then manager Michael Ngugi was promoted to the position of commercial director. Mshindi again fished Mutetei from the SG in 2009 back to NMG as the general manager circulation.  Mutetei left NMG three months ago.
