Siaya county government has been challenged to publicly expose the names of all members of county assembly who have been illegally awarded tenders and contracts in the county. North Gem ward MCA Nicholas Were demanded that the names of the MCAs awarded various contracts by the county government should be exposed to the public. Were lamented that some MCAs have illegally been awarded big contracts a factor that was denying the local contractors an opportunity to be awarded tenders as stipulated by the constitution.
Were was reacting to a motion tabled by West Alego ward representative Peter Muhulah which stated that the county government had awarded tenders to some MCAs currently sitting in the assembly. He mentioned the Sirembe-Ndegwe road in North Gem ward as one of the roads that has turned impassable because it was poorly constructed after it was awarded to a leader in the county.
