Nyali politicians go viral against opponents

Nyali constituency political terrain is becoming murky by the day as would-be aspirants for 2017 resort to all manner of tricks to cast their opponents in negative light.
The latest to fall victim of an orchestrated social media war campaign in Nyali is Said Abdalla aka Saido, whom a website known as Mombasa Youth Senate has dedicated  substantial space to discredit and portray as a poor leader whom Nyali voters should not risk to elect as MP.
But Saido’s supporters have been constantly hitting back and defending him on the various accusations the social network is being used to spread. Those reportedly behind the website include Job Sifuna, William Oduor and Kevin Ng’ang’a.
Supporters of the businessman led by James Wambua claim the trio are sidekicks of a certain politician in the area who is afraid of Saido’s political networking at the grassroots. Saido, they further claim is the darling of the youth and was set to give the sitting MP Hezron Awiti, a run for his money in the next elections.
But a close associate of the MP when reached for comment claimed Awiti does not recognise Saido as a serious political opponent.
However last year, Saido reportedly caused the MP to sweat when youths allied to him heckled and blocked Awiti from addressing a high profile meeting in his constituency attended by World Bank officials and Lands cabinet secretary Charity Ngilu.
Sources say Saido who is a relative of Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and in his mid thirties has been traversing Nyali constituency popularising himself ahead of time through medical camps, clean-up exercises and youth empowerment programmes have a good starting point.
In the last general elections, the battle for Nyali was a three-horse race with actors being current MP Awiti of Wiper, ODM’s John Mcharo and Noor of TNA. There were other contestants whose presence and effect was largely overshadowed by the trio’s high profile campaigns.
The entry of Saido is bound to change the political scenario come 2017. The immediate casualty of  Saido’s emergence would be Mcharo who was ODM’s candidate. The party ticket would be Saido’s given his close association with top party leadership including Cord leader Raila Odinga.
