GIRLS SCHOOL GETS SH15M FOR PROJECTS

Kigumo Girls High School in Kigumo sub-county has received Sh15 million from Kigumo CDF kitty for three projects aimed at advancing education in the institution. While handing in the cheque, area MP Jamleck Kamau said Sh6.3 will construct a kitchen, Sh4.5 million will be for the construction of four classrooms and Sh4.1 will be used to put up a dormitory.

Kamau said in a bid to ease transport woes at the school, CDF in conjunction with parents would soon purchase a school bus. The legislator said that with these new facilities in place, the girls had no excuse not to post good examination results.

The former minister said the school put up under the economic stimulus programme would be completed since the government has allocated Sh10 million to each centre for excellence at various schools in the country. He said he decided to put up the school as a centre of excellence because his constituency had no girls school.

President Uhuru Kenyatta, then deputy prime minister and minister for Finance, started the centres by allocating Sh30 million for the establishment of the schools
