KALONZO LINES UP KIALA,WAVINYA TO FACE MUTUA ON WIPER 2017

The die is now cast. Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has had enough of Machakos governor Alfred Mutua and is now laying down modalities to replace him come the next elections. This became clear last week when Kalonzo weighed in on the political duel between Mutua and his deputy Benard Kiala on one hand and with his senator Johnson Muthama on the other.

In what amounted to taking sides with Kiala and Muthama, Kalonzo read the riot act on Mutua and warned him that he will be rejected on polls next time.  Kalonzo was addressing Wiper nominated reps at the party headquarters in Nairobi where he berated them for appending their signatures in the list of those who plan to impeach Kiala. The 14 nominated reps had  taken the number of those against Kiala to 45.
If they did not withdraw their names from the list, Kalonzo told them, he would write to IEBC and have them degazetted. The remorseful reps apologised profusely and promised and confessed that they have been living under the mercy of Mutua who reportedly makes the MCAs kneel before him lest he sidelines them in dishing money.
Amongst the charges that the MCAs who worship Mutua as a deity are levelling against Kiala is that he talks to Muthama! Another has it that Kiala has created the impression that Mutua is not popular with the people. Those close to Kiala however say that he is keen to appear before the senate committee in case he is impeached where he says he will make Mutua regret by hanging his dirty linen in public to dry before everyone’s eyes.
Amongst the rot that Kiala is likely to bring forth is the irregular tendering that has allegedly become the way of doing business in the county government. Mutua’s Chief of Staff Mwengi Mutuse is allegedly the architect of the scams according to sources who claim that over 70pc of the tenders are awarded to his friends from Kibwezi in Makueni county. Mwengi’s friends allegedly supplied fertiliser, tractors and planting seeds. His wife is also the chief procurement officer in the county’s decentralised units which is sparking fear that husband and his better half could be colluding. The wife of the chief of public service  Raphael Kala, Sally, is the procurement officer of water.
It is said that Mwengi wrote the Kiala impeachment motion at Mutua’s office before it was handed over to the leader of majority Tom Kasoa to read in the assembly. Earlier, Kiala was ejected from a cabinet meeting and his official vehicle withdrawn.
Addressing the press in his office Kiala said the vehicle withdrawal and his ejection was as a result of him questioning rampant nepotism in the county and his decision to report threats on his life.
The Mutua-Kiala-Muthama saga has now taken a new dimension with the talk that Kalonzo has made up his mind to field Kiala for governor on Wiper in 2017 with Wavinya Ndeti as his deputy. The combination, it is said, would floor Mutua by 10am on ballot day as Mutua now remains only with parts of Machakos Town and Mwala behind him while Kathiani, Matungulu, Mavoko, Yatta, Kangundo and Kiala’s Masinga constituency do not want to hear, let alone see the governor who last week threw a Sh5m birthday party to his new wife. The lavish bash according to Mavoko MP Patrick Makau raises eyebrows because only last year, Mutua could not afford a birthday party for his children.
