Sagana,
Kibingoti and Kagio residents in Kirinyaga county have embraced the 24-hour
economy following the installation of security lights in the towns.
The
street lights project was undertaken using CDF funds. Ndia MP Stephen Ngari
said the security lights will improve the local economy.
Women
at Kibingoti town are hawking ripe bananas and other fruits even at night
targetting travellers along the busy Nairobi- Sagana-Karatina highway.
Mugging
incidents have sharply fallen in Kagio, Kibingoti and Sagana towns since the
security lights project was up and running. Ngari also opened a police station
in Baricho town, in Kirinyaga West district, which was put up using CDF money.
