NEW HEAD MEETS COLD RECEPTION FROM PARENTS

A section of parents of Bahati Primary School in Nairobi have vowed to eject the newly transferred headmaster James Otieno formerly of Visa Oshwal Primary School.
They claim Otieno was removed from his previous station after he was implicated in serious allegations of mismanagement of school resources. He was transferred after he fell out with the school committee after they allegedly exposed his dirty tricks of looting school funds.
The Bahati headmistress has now been moved to Nairobi River Primary while the Nairobi River head is the new Visa Oshwal Primary headteacher.
The Bahati Primary parents claim that the move has adversely affected their children some who are candidates, left with only a month and a half to sit for their KCPE examinations.
Elsewhere, the Kirinyaga branch Knut executive secretary Harrison Gichira is accused of serving teachers discriminatively. According to teachers who did not wish to be named, Gichira has been against teachers perceived to have been against his leadership and whom he believes are not in his camp.
He is also accused of protecting teachers with serious disciplinary cases. At one time, he tried to influence the revocation of transfers of teachers who had been transferred by TSC but to no avail. Teachers in Kirinyaga now say that he is preoccupied in Kirinyaga politics at the expense of serving their interests.
