The 42 year old polygamous man who was on
Saturday arrested for allegedly defiling his two daughters has been remanded by
a Nakuru court until Thursday. Samson Otieno, who denied two charges of
defilement and indecent act committed to his daughters aged nine and seven will
be remanded until Mach 26 when court will rule on his bond application.
Children's court Senior Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku said she needed
time to examine the evidence of the complainants (the two sisters) before
releasing him on bond. "I need to examine the evidence of the complainants
to establish the nature of the relationship between the accused and the
complainants," Nthuku said yesterday. His Lawyer Olaly Cheche wanted him
released on bond saying yet another tragedy has hit his family after his ten
year old son belonging to the first wife living in Nairobi was knocked down by
a vehicle and his body was lying at the Nairobi City Morgue. Cheche pleaded
with the court to release him on bond so as he can go and participate in his
son's funeral arrangements. The Court also ordered the prosecution to supply
him with evidence they intend to use before the next mentioned date. Prosecutor
Samuel Kamau told court that the two children are still being hosted at Nairobi
Womens' Hospital in Nakuru where they were taken for treatment Otieno stunned
his neighbours at Blankets area in Nakuru after allegation that he defiled his
daughters emerged with some saying he usually preaches in the area. He was
arrested on Saturday morning and detained at Teachers’ Police Post. One of the
minors is said to have disclosed her father's alleged acts in school after her
teacher noticed she had difficulty walking and sitting. Angela Agwaro, an
officer at the Hospital's Gender Violence Recovery Centre condemned the incident
saying it adds to rising cases of child abuse and gender violence in the county
mostly perpetrated by relatives
