WEBUYE POLICE DEMAND CASH AUDIT FOR STATION REPAIRS

Police at Webuye Police Station have called for a probe into alleged mismanagement of funds at the station.

The police through their committee said that money has been squandered at the station that was meant to renovate and revamp the offices.

A source that sought anonymity for fear of reprisals divulged that the recent disbursement of money meant to renovate offices went into individual pockets rendering the station unfurnished.
He said that he wondered how material for repairs were procured citing doors for offices that that allegedly look cheaper than the amount allocated for them.

“We are demanding an audit on how the money was spent. That is impunity and those found culpable of fraud should face the law in equal measures,’’ said the source.
He said that failure to put the bid on tender created the loophole that saw close to Sh800,000 swindled.
